Real women. Remarkable journeys. Stories worth sharing.
We love stories about women who dare to dream bigger, challenge expectations, and create opportunities for the next generation.
And this is one of those stories.
Meet Captain Hanan Mohammed Jawad and Captain Bakhita Al Mheiri, the first Emirati women to be promoted to Captain at Emirates. Two women whose journeys are not only making aviation history but also inspiring a new generation of girls to believe that the sky is truly the limit.
Two Women. Two Journeys. One Historic Milestone.
Hanan's journey began in 2008 when she joined the Emirates National Cadet Pilot Programme. Three years later, in 2011, Bakhita followed her own dream of becoming a pilot.
Today, with more than 15,000 flight hours between them, both women command the Boeing 777, proudly wearing the fourth stripe that represents one of aviation's greatest achievements: becoming an airline captain.
But behind this milestone are two personal stories of determination, courage, and the people who believed in them along the way.
Behind Every Achievement Is a Story
For Bakhita, the journey was shaped by resilience and family support. After losing her father at a young age, she was raised by her mother and maternal uncle, who encouraged her to pursue her ambitions, even when a career in aviation seemed out of reach.
Hanan's story is equally inspiring. Growing up in a protective family, she became the first to pursue a career in aviation. What began as a childhood dream eventually became a reality, with her family standing proudly behind her decision.
Different beginnings, but a shared determination to follow their dreams.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Their achievement represents more than a personal career milestone.
It's a reminder of how powerful representation can be.
When young girls see women like Hanan and Bakhita commanding aircraft, leading in traditionally male-dominated industries, and achieving what once seemed impossible, they begin to imagine new possibilities for themselves.
And that's what makes stories like these so important.
Because sometimes, all it takes is seeing someone else do it first to believe that you can too.
Here's to the Women Leading the Way
At SocialMoms, we believe in celebrating women not only for what they achieve but also for the journeys, challenges, and determination behind their success.
Captain Hanan and Captain Bakhita remind us that every new path begins with someone brave enough to take the first step.
Here's to women who don't just follow the path. They help create it.
